Position Overview:

The 24-Hour Security Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the physical security and safety of SAP Center at San Jose, scheduling the 24-hour security staff, training, enforcement of policies and procedures, and making rounds to guard against unauthorized entry and activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Supervise admission to SAP Center at San Jose in general and especially during events by overseeing 24-hour security staff and performing magnetometer and bags checks, checking ID cards, vaccination documents (ClearApp) and credentials of employees and others, interfacing with employees, the public and all vendors in the Arena.
  • Hire, train, schedule, assign, and coach and counsel 24 Hour Security staff.
  • Process payroll and maintain current schedules within the ABI system.
  • Ensure adequate staff coverage for all incoming calls and persons.
  • Develop and implement procedures, policies, and systems for all security/safety related incidents/contingencies and train staff on their responsibilities while carrying them out.
  • Work with management to determine the need for and implement programs to attain a sufficient number of staff with CPR and Basic First Aid training/certification.
  • Enforce building policies including safety, building access, loss prevention and other relevant tasks.

Security of Facility

  • Monitors CCTV and alarm computers as well as issue Arena ID cards.
  • On-going operation of alarm systems including maintenance and trouble-shooting and electronic access control.
  • Liaise with other departments regarding safety policies.
  • Set-up and monitor radio equipment for Security Department.
  • Implement facility emergency preparedness plans.
  • Maintain 24-hour, 7-day availability of knowledgeable security assistance.


  • Maintain files, records, and logs consistent with the needs of Security and other departments for historical information.
  • Audit log entries and other written reports/memos as needed, as well as developing and implementing department strategies, procedures, and systems.
  • Establish and maintain computerized records including incident reports, employee roster, and lost and found.
  • Prepare and submit timely reports including payroll and other data relative to department operations.
  • Maintain and administrate all 24-Hour Security software including Camera monitoring client, ISS, and Aware manager activity log.
  • Establish and enforce strict procedures consistent with security and safety guidelines
  • Perform other tasks and projects as required.


  • Associate's Degree and three years of relevant security experience, or combination of education and relevant experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to use discretion.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and to use sound judgment and independence in determining priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to hold others accountable for meeting performance as well as general conduct expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during critical incidents.
  • Ability to keep sensitive information strictly confidential at all times.
  • Knowledge and understanding of department's policies and procedures; willingness to embody and promote the team's and department's ethics, values and operating principles.
  • Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include interacting with individuals who have been experiencing a crisis.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead others and supervisory experience in 24-hour environment which includes scheduling and coaching and counseling others.
  • Computer skills including Outlook, Word and Excel including ability to learn new computer systems.
  • Administrative and computer knowledge at a sufficient level to meet department needs including administration of Building Safety Systems including: S2 Building Access, Wisenet Camera System, Aware Manager.
  • Strong customer service orientation; demonstrated ability to work well with colleagues, guests, and clients and with external organizations.
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts and availability to work any of 365 days each year including weekends and holidays.
  • This job will require you to work shifts outside of SSE's typical business hours. This position will be scheduled to work some evenings, weekends, holidays and events as business needs require.
  • At this time, all SSE employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to working onsite at any SSE facility, unless the individual is able to telework or is otherwise eligible for an exemption in accordance with applicable law. If on-site services are to be performed, SSE will require you to certify your vaccination status as part of the onboarding process.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • CPR/First Aid Certification (Preferred)
  • Valid California non-commercial driver's license

Physical Requirements*:

  • Frequently stand/walk, sitting, perform desk-based computer tasks, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, operate foot and/or hand controls.
  • Frequently use a telephone/radio, write by hand.
  • Rarely kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), reach/work above shoulders, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, scrub/sweep/mop, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh <40 pounds to a height of 18-24 inches repeatedly.
  • Ability to restrain or move an individual, with assistance.
  • Vision no more than 20/100 correctable to 20/30 in each eye with normal color vision.
  • Normal hearing abilities.
  • Ability to maintain a valid non-commercial California Driver's license. *Consistent with its obligations under the law, the Sharks will provide reasonable accommodation to any employee with a disability who requires accommodation to perform the essential functions of the job. Working Conditions:
  • Requires 24-hour response availability seven days per week. 24 Hour Security personnel are considered "essential" or "required" staff and shall respond to the site needs when directed to do so, even with little advanced notice.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment as defined/required by job assignments. Personnel may be exposed to potentially dangerous and adverse working conditions.
  • May be exposed to persons who pose a danger to self or others, outdoor work and inclement weather conditions.
